Edgbaston 501, Birmingham

Luxurious rooftop hospitality experience at Edgbaston Stadium

  • CLIENT: Warwickshire Country Cricket Club
  • LOCATION: Edgbaston, Birmingham
  • CAPACITY: 120 people
  • SERVICES: Interiors

As part of WOO’s ongoing work at Edgbaston Stadium with Warwickshire County Cricket Club, we designed this luxury rooftop hospitality suite. Set in the South Stand, the luxurious venue offers panoramic views across the iconic pitch and can accommodate up to 120 people. The informal and flexible space complete with a bar, is designed for a range of activities from networking events to drinks receptions and parties.

As part of our broader remit with the club, we conducted a study to identify areas in the stadium that were underutilised. This particular rooftop space provided the perfect opportunity to create a venue that would work for both match days and non-match days.

Called Edgbaston 501, the restaurant’s name was inspired by the record-breaking score of cricket legend Brian Lara. Lara’s 501 not out for Warwickshire against Durham at Edgbaston in 1994 remains the highest individual score in first-class cricket history. The great sportsman’s achievement is honoured with a tiled wall providing a ball-by-ball account of the innings and a plaque marking the momentous events at this home of English cricket.
