Incredible transformation from football to basketball and then to handball

Home to one of France’s leading football clubs, Lille Olympique Sporting Club, this modular multisports showcase was ideal for hosting both basketball and handball competitions.

The design challenge for WOO was to transform the city’s football stadium, the fourth largest in France, into a venue that could meet Olympic and sports federation requirements for the two sports. This was achieved through an innovative overlay design which could be changed swiftly between the two competition sports.

The first stage accommodated the preliminary basketball competition, and then went under an incredible 36-hour transformation into the handball venue. This became a favourite venue for both athletes and spectators, delivering an incredible atmosphere.
