SPORT AND EVENT MASTERPLANNING

The WOO team has many years of masterplanning experience; in fact the practice was formed through working on the Masterplan for the London 2012 Games.

Since then our experience has grown to include proposals for Olympic games in other cities and non sporting masterplans as well. We have developed schemes for elite sporting venues in the UK with their surrounding areas and more recently, working with clients in the Middle East to integrate sports and leisure facilities into wider development strategies. Our approach to masterplanning is based on an understanding of the site, and appreciation of all the constraints and opportunities the site offers.

We know from our experience that the success of a masterplan is not only dependent on the design of the site and buildings, but crucially needs an integration and coordination with utilities, transport, access, services. Our proposals are always respectful of the existing ecology and we always develop an overarching sustainability strategy for all aspects of the masterplan.

Our Masterplanning projects show the range of our expertise that we bring to a range of challenges

Edgbaston

The new masterplan, will create an open and welcoming arrival statement that is truly representative of Edgbaston and its global importance to the game;

London 2012 Olympics

The WOO team were collectively involved with the London Olympics from the earliest days, preparing the bid as a candidate city to the evolution of the masterplan for the Olympic Park. We were also responsible for post Games Legacy strategies both for sports and the regeneration of the Lea Valley.

Baku 2025 World Expo

In 2017 WOO were chosen to develop a concept for Baku’s bid to host the 2025 World Expo. The proposed was designed to form part of the wider redevelopment of Baku linking two existing suburbs

Abu Dhabi projects

WOO were appointed to redevelop Zone FX on Yas Island and investigate the potential opportunities for developing the site into an iconic sports and leisure destination.
